Suki Rae has performed internationally for over thirty years with many illustrious musicians. She has also acted, written, directed, worked with dancers, and made films. 

She began playing the piano under her mother’s tutelage, a classical pianist, at the age of five. She studied flute with Ralph Johnson and Walfried Kujala of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, at Interlochen Music Camp, Interlochen Arts Academy, Northwestern University’s Cherub Program, Bennington College Jazz Lab, Manhattan School of Music, and with Frank Wess of the New York Jazz Quartet.

She pursued acting, studying with Addison Myers and Jean Muir at Stephens College, the University of California, Santa Barbara, the Webber Douglas Academy in London, HB Studios, and at NYU. She has acted in plays and films in California, New York, and London. She wrote and directed two plays, staged at NYU and Cornell University. In 2005, she wrote, acted, directed, starred in, and produced her autobiographical musical,” I Don’t Wannabe a Wannabe” at the Writer’s Voice in New York City.

Suki received a Lower Manhattan Cultural Council grant to lead students in peace songwriting workshops culminating in a peace concert of original music at St. Mark’s Church in 2006. She has worked with dancer/ choreographers including Janet Gerson, Linda Diamond, Hala Shah, and many others. She was a Music Under New York musician from 1985-2019.

She wrote and directed films in Berkeley, California, and at NYU Graduate Film School. She was featured in the documentary ” Dig Your Soul on the Streets” with the rock band OASIS in 2009. She has released nine self-produced recordings on her label, Reverence for Life Records. She wrote two books available on Amazon.com. Her song, “My Bamboo Hat,” was published in a children’s collection by Piano Press.
